In addition to the nature experience, cultural tourism also plays an important role in the regions of Eastern Bavaria and Upper Austria. The project "valorisation of Roman cultural sites in Eastern Bavaria and Upper Austria" should take greater account of this importance as well as of general tourism trends (for example increase in short breaks and day trips to nearby or neighboring tourist regions). The great influence of the Romans, especially in the provinces of Noricum and Raetium, and thus in the eastern Bavarian-Upper Austrian border area, has so far only been treated locally. For the first time, this historical topic will be illuminated from different perspectives and presented cross-border. The focus is on innovative, tourist products with a historical reference. Detached from today's state borders, the neighboring provinces of the time, in their spatial context, under historical aspects, are to be transferred into the 21st century in a contemporary interpretation. Through the joint development of a cross-border, cross-project, digital travel guide with mobility concept, the Roman experience productions are to be prepared in an innovative way. A common outline map in print shows the diversity of Eastern Bavaria and Upper Austria, taking into account the hiking and cycling infrastructure. As a connecting element between the Roman cultural sites and the history of both regions. Through the cross-border expansion of cultural tourism, the off-season can be sustainably developed and strengthened by the application of attractive destinations.
