Development of a Road Border Crossing at Kübekháza (HU) - Rabe (SRB) area

This project aims to develop opportunities for opening of a new border crossing between Kübekháza and Rabé (Rábé) settlements which would help the economic, social, and cultural cooperation in the Hungary-Serbia border region. The project consists of building of new connecting roads and renewal of the existing ones. New road constructed in Hungary will be 2,309 long and 5.5 m wide, while the length of rehabilitated roads will be 1,365 m in Serbia and 844 m in Hungary. The national road through Kübekháza will be extended to the Romanian border. The Interior Affairs Ministries of the two counters will be responsible for implementation of further project elements (border crossing facilities, buildings). On the Hungarian side, a new border crossing building will be built and it will be used jointly by the two countries. This project aims to contribute to the stimulation of cross-border enterprises and economic relationships, establishment of new business opportunities, and increase the best practice exchange in the domain of culture, tourism and education. Implementation of the project would enable uninterrupted traffic on the public road and alleviate the border station at Horgos-Röszke and Kelebija-Tompa will be alleviated of its excessive burden gradually, with bicycle and pedestrian traffic also becoming easier, contribution to the environment protection will increase, which is a very important EU directive.
