There is currently no existing cycling connection on the subject relation Velenje-Šoštanj-Šmartno ob Paki-Mozirje. Cycling infrastructure is already being established in the Municipality of Velenje, including the Municipality of Šoštanj, and the construction of this operation will pursue the objectives of establishing a safe and unified cycling system. The Municipality of Velenje has previously built sections 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 and 2.1 in length of 5.88 km. The operation envisages connecting the hinterland settlements in the municipalities of Šmartno ob Paki and Mozirje to urban settlements through the current very attractive but unregulated connection for cyclists, which enables mobility for both daily migrants and recreational cyclists. The object of the operation is a cycling link with a length of 16.44 km (of which 6.83 km of new construction), which will establish a cycling link with a total length of 22.32 km.
