The objective of the project “Construction of the Łódź Agglomeration Railway Stage IV” is to improve the transport accessibility of the Lodz Region by extending the transport activity of Lodz Aglomeration Railway sp. o.o. in the voivodship, on railway lines No. 25 in the Łódź/Zgierz-Opoczno and No 53 in the Łódź/Zgierz — Spała relationship. As part of the project, 3 brand new two-wheel drive units will be purchased — powered from the 3 kVDC overhead contact line and internal combustion engines (hybrids), for the operation of rail agglomeration and regional passenger traffic. Tasks within the project: preparatory work, purchase of rolling stock, project management, promotion. The target group of residents of the Łódź Voivodeship and visitors travelling to and from work, schools, universities, public and cultural institutions, for tourism purposes. The project will contribute to improving the above-mentioned cohesion of the region and voivodship and creating competitive conditions for individual transport, as well as increasing professional and spatial mobility of inhabitants of the province, increasing safety and comfort of travelling, including for people with disabilities (doors equipped with sensory buttons with a designation for the blind in the form of a convex pictogram in the form of a “>” sign, a one-space interior with a low floor share of about 50 %, as for the exit zone, spaces for people with limited mobility and wheelchairs equipped with backrests and seat belts for attaching a wheelchair with a passenger, sockets for charging battery trolleys, mobile ticket vending machines, toilet cabin, bicycle holders, air conditioning and WiFi network). The planned effects of the Project are the launch of new connections on non-electricised sections of railway lines: no. 25 Tomaszów Maz.-Opoczno and no. 53 Tomaszów Maz.-Spała and increase in the current number of connections between Łódź/Zgierz and Tomaszów Maz. and other routes operated by ŁKA Company
