ECBiG — European Centre for Bioinformatics and Genomics — MOSAIC

The main objective of the Project is to create a unique MOSAIC Platform enabling the use of artificial intelligence to conduct innovative research integrating multidimensional biomedical and clinical data to obtain new knowledge and tools for widely available, personalised prevention, diagnostics and medical therapy. The planned venture will open the way for the practical application of the latest achievements of science in medicine. The creation of the Platform will be the responsibility of leading national centres operating in the area of: chemistry, Biology, Biomedicine and Information Technology (ICHB PAN), Computer Science and Bioinformatics (PP), Oncology (NIO-PIB) and Cardiology (NIKARD). The objectives of the Project are perfectly aligned with the strategic orientations set out in government documents on scientific development and national health care, and address the most important social and economic challenges defined in the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union. The MOSAIC Platform project is one of the key elements of the innovative strategy for the development of biomedical and clinical research in Europe developed by the LifeTime consortium (https://lifetime-fetflagship.eu/). The MOSAIC Platform consists of 4 infrastructure modules for: acquire learning data, standardise data and create homogeneous learning datasets, integrate and analyse data using AI, share generated resources and services. Users of the Platform will be: research centres, health care units, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and biomedical companies, as well as non-governmental organisations and patient associations interested in using the resources collected on the Platform. Since it is intended to support the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of civilisation diseases constituting a serious social problem, the entire society will be the indirect beneficiary of the project’s results.
