Creation of an interactive Fajans Centre

The investment will consist of the reconstruction, extension, superstructure and renovation of the historic complex of buildings of the former Bank of Gdańsk, located in the area of revitalisation (ul. Żabia 2/Królewiecka 10), together with the equipment and development of the adjacent environment for the creation of the Interactive Faience Centre (ICF), referring to the 120-year tradition of production of faience products in the city. Within the ICF, it is planned to create interactive educational and exhibition spaces, divided into thematic zones, whose main theme is Włocławek fajans. The facility will consist of 2 interconnected buildings — building “A”, intended mainly for the exhibition function, and building “B”, intended for workshop, education and administrative function. Their connection will be a connector with a public hall and a set of auxiliary rooms. As part of the task, a comprehensive renovation and reconstruction of the facility is planned, while integrating and displaying historical elements, as well as the purchase of equipment and land development. The infrastructure will be fully accessible to people with disabilities. At the same time, the investment is a response to diagnosed problems in the area of revitalisation, mainly the lack of infrastructure increasing the tourist attractiveness of the revitalised area, lack of economic initiatives and the problem of inheritance of passive attitude towards life by residents. According to the diagnosis, the area of Włocławek’s revitalisation is characterised by a high concentration of negative phenomena, which affect the lack of willingness to invest and stay in this area. The aim of the ICF is to activate the economy and society, to develop cultural heritage, to create a positive image of the city through the brand, as well as to change the negative perception of the city by outsiders. The projected effect of the measures will be to stimulate the economy and increase the attractiveness of investment and tourism of the revitalisation area.
