The project aims to increase visitor comfort, clearly architecturally define the form of the Governor’s Palace as a building of the art museum, to support visitors with a friendly and attractive functioning and to create barrier-free access to the exhibitions. In conjunction with this, it radically raises the standard of presentation of the art collection from the Middle Ages until the beginning of the 20th century. New collections of artistic and industrial character and design will be incorporated into the exhibition in the form of a parallel exhibition to the so-called “free arts”.
