Disposal of tar pits and benzo(a)pyrene contamination outbreaks in the Poldi area

In the territory of the former state enterprise SONP Kladno is one of the largest and most risky environmental burdens in the Czech Republic. The project focuses on the remediation of three tar pits and an outbreak of benzo(a)pyrene contamination, which pose a risk to human health and ecosystems. Tars and their mixture contain high concentrations of PAHs, C10-C40 hydrocarbons, phenols, BTEX and heavy metals. The implementation of corrective measures will eliminate the health and environmental risks arising from tar pits and contamination outbreaks.
