The overall objective of the project is: Improving the quality of life in Dorohoi town, Botosani county. The project’s contribution to the achievement of OS 13.1 — Improving the quality of life of the population in small and medium-sized cities in Romania The project will contribute directly to: improving the quality of education infrastructure; — increasing the level of participation in early education and compulsory education; improving the quality of public services in the road sector through road rehabilitation — improving the quality of the environment through green spaces and sidewalk construction. Contribution of the project to the achievement of the objectives of Investment Priority 9b — Offering support for the physical, economic and social revitalisation of disadvantaged communities in urban and rural regions The project implementation will contribute to: promoting social inclusion and preventing marginalisation of disadvantaged or vulnerable groups by ensuring an educational process at European standards; combating territorial segregation by improving access to public services as a result of the rehabilitation of roads on the territory of the city. Dorohoi city falls among small and medium-sized cities with a population of 30,823 inhabitants in 2018, according to INSSE. According to the Atlas of Urban Areas marginalised in Dorohoi, 57.66 % of the population is disadvantaged on at least one of the four monitored criteria and only 41 % of the population lives in disadvantaged areas. Within the project will be realised socio-educational objectives and road infrastructure that will address the population of the city as a whole, thus ensuring the integrated character of the project. Particular attention will be paid to vulnerable social groups: students from the Roma community, students with Special Educational Requirements, students from Social Centers. The investments envisaged are: extension and modernisation of the “Alexandru I. Cuza” Gymnasium School; rehabilitation and modernisation of the Secondary School “Stefan cel Mare”; rehabilitation and modernisation of the “Mihail Kogalniceanu” Gymnasium School; rehabilitation and modernisation of several roads in the locality; — construction of sidewalks on a few road sections. The project contributes directly to the achievement of Axis 13.1 objective and investment priority 9b, having an integrated character through the variety of investment objectives proposed for financing and the diversity of the categories of beneficiaries of this project. The project will have a significant impact on the entire local community, not just one category of beneficiaries. The complementary activities of the project will lead to the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of Dorohoi in the socio-educational fields and the quality of urban spaces. None of the objectives that will be achieved through the project are subject to state aid.
