The overall objective of the project is to promote a sustainable and quality employment of the South West, West, North West and Centre regions by offering digital skills development courses to 320 employees and supporting enterprises in the development and introduction of work-based learning programs in the field of digital literacy and information and communication technology, in order to improve the level of knowledge/competence/skills related to the economic sectors/fields identified according to CNS and SNCDI of employees. The overall objective of the project is in line with thematic Objective 8: Promoting sustainable and quality employment and supporting labour mobility, with Investment Priority 10.iii “Improving equal access to lifelong learning for all age groups in a formal, non-formal or informal setting, updating knowledge, skills and competences of the workforce and promoting flexible learning pathways, including through career guidance and validation of acquired skills” and Specific Objective 3.12. “Improving the level of knowledge/competence/skills related to the economic sectors/areas identified according to CNS and SNCDI of employees”. The changes in companies in Romania are occurring much slower than is necessary for our country to exceed the status of less developed country in the EU Member States’ rankings on important indicators of competitive position. Improving business indicators does not frequently lead to better performance due to significant delays in the development of supporting factors, in particular transport infrastructure, capitalisation of creativity, digitalisation and automation of activity. Vulnerabilities of the private environment exist especially in terms of international investments of Romanian companies, productivity in the manufacturing industry, innovation, energy efficiency and development of competitive economic agglomerations at territorial level. The contribution to improving the competitive advantages at the territorial level, measured by the participation of county economies in exports, is significantly unbalanced. The contribution to improving competitive advantages is significantly reduced for services, the most important economic sector with 67 % of GDP, whose exports are at a small and slightly declining global market share. From the presented, we can see the need for enterprises to implement solutions that allow overcoming the obstacle to capitalising on a competitive potential recognised on the market, but incompletely valued to create added value and prosperity, to create opportunities for professional affirmation of employees at any level of skills, to discover valid strategic alternatives and to be able to
