W2E-COGEN Prutul (Waste To Energy for Heat & Power)

The overall objective of the project is to reduce carbon emissions and increase the energy efficiency of the plant oil production unit, owned by S.C. PRUTUL S.A. in Galati Municipality, Galati County, by making a new investment in a cogeneration plant with condensed steam turbine, with adjustable socket that will be able to deliver: thermal energy for the theoretical process, variable, approx. 12 [MWt], i.e. a maximum flow rate of 15 [tonnes/hour]; electricity for the own consumption of the oil plant and cogeneration plant, approx 5.5 [MWe], variable according to the supplied heat output. The proposed investment will result in an increase in installed power and a reduction in the annual amount of CO2 emissions of 1262.8 tonnes CO2 equivalent. Also, annual primary energy savings will be achieved through high-efficiency cogeneration of 528,676 thousand toe, thus contributing to the achievement of indicator POIM 2S 57 The annual primary energy savings obtained by high efficiency cogeneration. Therefore, the contribution to the achievement of indicator LIOP 2S 57 “Annual primary energy savings obtained from high efficiency cogeneration” is 528,676 thousand toe (value) and 1.62 % (percentage). Thus, through the targeted objectives, namely reducing carbon emissions and increasing the energy efficiency of the plant oil production unit, the proposed investment contributes to the achievement of the general objective of the Operational Programme Large Infrastructure — Priority Axis 6 on promoting clean energy and energy efficiency in order to support a low carbon economy, as well as to the achievement of the specific objective of the Investment Priority 6.4 on promoting actions to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency by installing new capacities/modernising high-efficiency cogeneration capacities.
