Increasing energy performance and related works for the “G. G. Longinescu” Technological High School building Focsani

This project is part of the series of initiatives UAT Focsani Municipality, to improve the quality of urban life by applying measures to increase energy efficiency at both residential and public buildings level, thus ensuring the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Improvement Program related to Focsani Municipality, Vrancea County. The general objective of this project is to increase the energy performance of the G. G. Longinescu Technological High School building in Focsani, by applying measures to increase energy efficiency in order to reduce primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions, while ensuring the improvement of the comfort, health and safety of pupils and staff of this educational institution — direct beneficiaries of the investment. The increase in the energy performance of the G. G. Longinescu Technological High School building in Focsani municipality will be ensured by carrying out intervention works to reduce the energy consumption for heating spaces, under the conditions of ensuring and maintaining the indoor thermal climate, by limiting heat losses to the outside environment and improving the urban aspect of the building. This project contributes to Romania’s effort to meet the main objectives of the energy-environmental policy of the European Union, ensuring the convergence of our country’s policy with the EU policy in the field. In recent years, energy efficiency, mobility and climate aspects have a considerable importance in Focsani Municipality, which is also confirmed by the elaboration and implementation by the local authorities of the Energy Efficiency Improvement Program related to Focsani, Vrancea County. The project applicant thus aims to contribute to the achievement of national climate change and sustainable energy objectives by: reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 % by 2020 compared to 1990; increase to 24 % of the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption; increase energy efficiency by 19 % in primary energy consumption. Thus, the Energy Efficiency Improvement Program for Focsani Municipality provides for energy rehabilitation measures for buildings of public interest in the municipality of Focsani (education units, sanitary facilities, City Hall headquarters, etc.). This project therefore responds to the thermal rehabilitation measure of the G. G. Longinescu Technological High School building in Focsani municipality and its energy efficiency increase, representing a very important component of the investment plan provided by the local council.
