The overall objective of the project is to increase the capacity and improve the conditions for carrying out passenger traffic in conditions of maximum safety and an adequate level of security, at the level of Transilvania Targu Mures Airport, according to European and national regulations in the field of air transport. The overall objective of the project contributes to increasing regional accessibility and mobility through investments in airport infrastructure as well as an increased volume of passengers transiting through the airport. The project provides for the extension of the aircraft parking platform and the extension of the passenger terminal, in accordance with the following international regulations: Regulation (EC) No 139/2014; Regulation (EC) No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on common rules in the field of civil aviation security and repealing Regulation (EC) No 2320/2002, as amended; Council Regulation (EC) No 3922/91 as regards common technical requirements and administrative procedures applicable to commercial air transport, Subpart S — Commission Regulation (EC) No 272/2009 supplementing the common basic standards on civil aviation security set out in Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council, as amended; Commission Regulation (EU) No 1998/2015 laying down detailed measures for the implementation of the common basic standards on aviation security; Commission Regulation (EU) No 18/2010 amending Regulation (EC) No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards specifications for national quality control programmes in the field of civil aviation security; Commission Regulation (EU) No 72/2010 laying down procedures for the execution of Commission inspections in the field of aviation security The project ‘Modernisation of Transilvania Airport with inclusion of the objectives of Master General Transport Plan’ contributes to the achievement of Specific Objective 2.3. Increasing the sustainable use of airports within the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020, being implemented at the level of Transilvania Targu Mures Airport, which is one of the 21 airports in Romania. The investment proposed by this project aims to develop the air transport infrastructure in order to increase the capacity and improve the conditions for carrying out passenger traffic, thereby contributing to the modernisation of an airport outside the respective TENT network to increase accessibility and mobility through investments in airport infrastructure in a safe manner and in line with the objectives of environmental protection.
