The overall objective of the project is the integration of Braila Port in the international flow of goods by modernising the port infrastructure and inland access roads in order to increase the capacity of goods transported on inland waterways and to develop the economic capacities of the port operators. The project contributes to the achievement of specific objectives 2.4 by: Modernisation of the quay front, related to berths 26 and 27, linked to the need to ensure infrastructure works corresponding to the development/operation of increased volumes of various goods traffic: cereals, bulk goods, etc.; Rehabilitation of the public utility road No. 4 — L=312.00 m, to ensure the access of vehicles and intervention crews (rescue, firefighters, police) but also heavy-duty vehicles with two and three axles or of road trains intended for the transport of materials. — Increasing the capacity of goods transported on inland waterways to 260,000 tons/year through Danele 26-27, capacity to be reached in 2030. The expected results to be achieved through the implementation of this project are: reducing the environmental impact; the development of Braila Port as the growth engine of the South-East and North-East Development Regions (crossing the hinterland); increasing the volume of port traffic; reducing energy consumption through the use of alternative energy; reduction of sediments in port; improve connections with Hinterland; improving connections to TEN-T networks (Core and Comprehensive); modernisation of port infrastructure (in order to adapt to new types of vessels) and development of adjacent areas (vessel repair system, phytosanitary control, bunkering services, connection to water and energy networks); increasing the quality of services by digitising the flow of information, simplifying port and customs procedures, developing personnel services and vessel monitoring system. The achievement of the specific objectives of the project described below in the grant application will contribute to the achievement of the specific objectives related to priority axes 1 and 2 of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme, regarding: Increasing the use of waterways and ports located on the TEN-T core network (OS 1.3) and increasing the volume of goods transited through intermodal terminals and ports (OS 2.4).
