The overall objective of the project is to identify reliable solutions for the adoption of a plan of measures allowing public authorities and institutions to intervene effectively, with appropriate means to manage the crisis caused by the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, to create viable framework premises for reducing the pressure exerted by the pandemic situation on the national health system and to increase the safety of patients of the Clinical Hospital of Nephrology “Dr. Carol Davila” by equipping it with detection systems, signalling, fire alarm as well as for situations of exceeding the maximum permissible concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere with the completion of modernisation/extension works for electrical installations, ventilation, air treatment and medical fluid infrastructure in a period of 18 months, thus ensuring the fundamental requirement of “fire safety”. The overall objective of the project is set in line with the specific objective of the call POIM/935/9.1 Increasing the capacity to manage the COVID-19 health crisis and aims to support the investments needed to strengthen the emergency response capacity caused by the spread of SARS-CoV-2, in order to protect the health of the population by facilitating access to public health services with modernised medical infrastructure, access to health for patients in need of admission, ensuring a timely and efficient response time from the hospital unit. Also, the main objective is grounded in correspondence with the real requirements of the health system in the context of the multiple challenges raised by combating the COVID-19 outbreak with the aim of improving the existing medical infrastructure at the level of the Clinical Hospital of Nephrology “Dr. Carol Davila”, capable of responding to the real safety and security needs associated with the occurrence of devastating events of the nature of fires. Equally, the implementation of the activities foreseen in the elaboration of the project generates the achievement of Specific Objective 9.1 Increasing the capacity to manage the COVID-19 health crisis of the LIOP, Priority Axis 9 Protecting the health of the population in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributes to the achievement of the result indicator of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme, i.e. “Appropriate care and treatment capacity of cases of SARS-CoV-2/sanitary crisis management” and concreteisation of the immediate output indicator, namely “Public entities equipped/supported for the management of the health crisis caused by SARS-CoV-2”. The general and specific objectives of the project are set in close interdependence with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, adopted by UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/70/1, at the UN Summit on Sustainable Development in September 2
