The overall objective of the project is to increase the sustainable use of Oradea Airport by ensuring the safety of passengers and baggage in accordance with the requirements of Commission Regulation (EU) No 139 laying down technical requirements and administrative procedures related to aerodromes pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Annex to ED Decision 2016/027/R Certification Specifications and Guidance Material for Aerodromes Design CS-ADR-DSN Issue 4 of 8 December 2017 in order to ensure passenger security, respectively Regulation 139/2014 — CSADR-DSN.T.905 — Firefighter Remiza. The project ‘Increasing safety and security at Oradea Airport’ is part of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020, Priority Axis 2 — Development of a multimodal, quality, sustainable and efficient transport system, Investment Priority 7c — Development and improvement of environmentally friendly transport systems, including those with low noise and low carbon emissions, including inland waterways and maritime transport systems, ports, multimodal connections and airport infrastructure to promote sustainable mobility at regional and local level, Specific Objective 2.3 Call for projects for the development of airport infrastructure — new investment projects targeting non-economic safety and security activities. Project investments shall respond to the following eligible actions under OS 2.3: B. New investment projects in airport infrastructure targeting non-economic activities in the field of safety and security — Investments aimed at safety and security for air transport infrastructure in conjunction with the types of non-economic activities set out in Annex 10 of the Applicant’s Guide; By making these types of investments Oradea Airport will comply with the latest requirements of the aeronautical regulations, thus providing superior security conditions in the airport activities. Thus, the project ‘Increasing safety and security at Oradea Airport’ contributes to the following programme indicator for Specific Objective 2.3 Call for projects for the development of airport infrastructure — new investment projects targeting non-economic activities in the field of safety and security: • 2S17 Airports upgraded On Oradea Airport, the transport demand registered in the last 15 years has varied unevenly, reaching values between 8.115 passengers in 2015, 220.012 passengers in 2018 and 94,977 passengers in 2019. The large passenger decline between 2018 and 2019 is due to Ryan Air’s decision to temporarily suspend flights to London, Dusseldo.
