The project for rehabilitation of the 7 bridges and 7 bridges managed by CF Craiova Regional Branch is proposed for financing under the 2014-2020 LIOP. The general objective is to promote a sustainable transport system that ensures the efficiency, speed and safety of movements of goods and persons, accompanied by an appropriate level of services at European, national and European standards. Following the implementation of the rehabilitation works proposed in this grant application: the railway structures envisaged will be able to be used without speed restrictions, which will reduce the time spent on transport, — savings will be made on maintenance and repair costs, as well as on the costs generated by the need to reconfigure the route during ad hoc repairs; the risk of accidents is reduced. Time savings, safety and comfort conditions increase the attractiveness of rail transport. The rehabilitation of the most affected railway structures managed by the Craiova Railway Region has a multiplicative effect on the economic profitability of the rehabilitation of each structure. The project aims to increase safety in rail transport by reducing the risk of accidents, ensuring time savings for freight and passengers by increasing the speed of travel, reducing the costs of operating and maintaining railway infrastructure and rolling stock. Time savings for freight and passenger transport and the reduction of infrastructure maintenance costs are the main economic benefits quantified from a monetary point of view in the economic analysis. The rehabilitation of railway structures will help to increase the attractiveness of rail as a greener mode of transport compared to road transport.
