Iasi International Airport is located in the vicinity of Iasi (Romania), at a distance of about 8 km northeast of the city center. Iasi Airport is one of the oldest accredited airports in Romania. Iasi Airport is located in the north-eastern part of the Iasi Muincipia, and at present, the only road access to the airport is through the Airport road, which in turn detaches from Ciric Road. Iasi Airport is considered to be of national strategic interest and ensures the opening in the eastern part of the country and is the third regional airport in the country in terms of passenger traffic. It is located on the Trans-European Central Transport Network (TEN-T CORE), governed by Regulations (EU) 1316/2013 & 1315/2013, which aims to create a complete transport network between Member States, under common standards. This objective has also been translated into the national transport strategy, defined by the Master General Transport Plan, and aims to facilitate the movement of people and goods between EU Member States and those adjacent to the Western Border. In these terms, the overall objective of the project is the modernisation and development of Iasi airport in order to increase efficiency and attractiveness for users, in the context of efficient connection to the airport points of community and international traffic, by: • Increase the operating capacity (infrastructure and facilities) to meet the demand for 2030. The general objective can also be expressed by: Increasing the International Importance of Iasi Airport. The largest modernisation project of the airport took place between 2013-2015. This project included: construction of a new runway with a length of 2 400 m, equipped with cat.II beacon system, making the 300 m long runway, doubling the platform that allows parking large aircraft, construction of a new T3 terminal with a processing capacity of 320 passengers/peak hour, 6 check-in offices and a total area of 3600 sqm. The total investment of the project was 56 million euros of which 85 % European funds, 13 % state aid (Iaşi County Council) and 2 % the contribution of Iasi airport. Currently Iasi Airport has the following areas of airport movement: Takeoff runway landing with operating directions 14-32 has a length of 2 400 m and a total width of 60 m (45 m — load-bearing part, framed by two acres of 7.5 m each). The track is equipped with 3 return pockets: two heads, sized for category “D” aircraft and a sized intermediate pocket for category “C” aircraft. The road structure of the landing runway is semi-rigid type, with asphalt layer clothing and is sized for a load capacity equivalent to a PCN 70 F/D/W/T/. Track es
