Making investments in the 110/20 kV transformer station Vicov and LEA 110 kV Radauti — Vicov in order to take over energy produced from renewable resources in safe conditions of operation of SEN The general objective of the project is in line with the action financed under Specific Objective 6.1 — Increase of energy production from less exploited renewable resources (biomass, biogas, geothermal), distribution sector, energy infrastructure investments proposed by the project: — taking over energy produced from renewable resources in safe conditions of SEN operation; reducing Own Technology Consumption (CPT); improvement of the performance indicators of the electricity distribution service, respectively the technical parameters of the distributed energy quality and the indicators of continuity in the supply of electricity. The achievement of the overall objective of the project contributes to the achievement of the LIOP specific output indicator for investment priority 4a — Promoting the production and distribution of energy from renewable sources 2S54. The overall objective of the project is within the National Renewable Source Energy Action Plan (PNAER), which refers to Romania’s Energy Strategy for 2007-2020. This mentions the significant impact of using renewable energy sources and the need to develop distribution networks in the smart grid concept. The investments to modernise the protection, monitoring and control systems proposed by the project create the premises for the development of a smart grid in the project area. The draft Integrated National Plan in the field of Energy and Climate Change 2021-2030 (PNIESC) indicates, among the main measures taken at national level to promote the increase of energy from renewable sources, the development of electricity distribution networks to ensure the discharge of electricity produced by power plants using RES. Also, PNIESC mentions the use of structural funds in financing energy efficiency initiatives related to the reduction of CPT in distribution networks. At the same time, the draft Energy Strategy of Romania 2019-2030, with the perspective of 2050, is foreseen to distribute electricity as one of the sectors with high potential to increase energy efficiency in Romania.
