MODERNISATION AND EXPANSION OF PASSENGER TERMINAL. MODERNISATION OF THE BOARDING-LANDING PLATFORM AND ALPHA TAXIWAY (BUILT IN 1973). CONSTRUCTION OF THE PLATFORM DEDICATED TO AIRCRAFT DEICING/PRESERVING ACTIVITIES

The overall objective of the project is to increase the sustainable use of the ‘Danube Delta’ Airport by modernising and extending the passenger terminal, upgrading the embarkation-disembarkation platform and the alpha taxiway (built in 1973), building the platform dedicated to aircraft de-icing/preparing activities in accordance with the requirements of Commission Regulation (EU) No.139 laying down technical requirements and administrative procedures related to aerodromes pursuant to Annex to ED Decision 2017-021-R Certification Specifications and Guidance Material for Aerodromes Design CS-ADR Issue 4 of 8 December 2017, (CS ADR-DS N.D.S.S.) of the European Parliament version of the European Transportation Area. The project “Modernisation and extension of passenger terminal. modernisation of boarding-disembarkation platform and alpha taxiway (built in 1973)” Building the platform dedicated to aircraft de-icing activities" has a special relevance for the socio-economic development of the ITI area by contributing to the achievement of the objectives of Pillar III — Improving connectivity related to the Integrated Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Danube Delta. Also, taking into account the importance of an airport in socio-economic development, the positive effects can extend to the entire South-East Development Region. The project falls under the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020, Priority Axis 2 — Developing a multimodal, quality, sustainable and efficient transport system, Investment Priority 7c — Development and improvement of environmentally friendly transport systems, including those with low noise and low carbon emissions, including inland waterways and maritime transport systems, ports, multimodal links and airport infrastructures, with the aim of promoting sustainable mobility at regional and local level, Specific Objective 2.3 Call for projects for airport infrastructure development — new investment projects. Project investments shall respond to the following eligible actions under OS 2.3: New investment projects in airport infrastructure having as objective the construction/extension/modernisation of terminals, respectively the rehabilitation-modernisation/extension of movement areas (pathways, taxiways, platforms, etc.), accompanied by environmental protection measures By carrying out these types of investments “Danube Delta” Airport Tulcea will comply with the latest requirements of the regulations in the aviation sector, thus providing superior safety conditions.
