The actions to be developed in this operation are aimed at the implementation around the Logistics Area of Autonomous Interest Bay of Algeciras and the current logistics center of Adif in San Roque of adequate facilities for modal rail-road exchange that allow the access of goods to the railway corridors. As noted, this Node is the origin of two of the Basic Corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The operation is part of the work programme of the two Corridors, which contemplate in their list of projects the development in San Roque of a priority node Rail Road Terminal (RRT) and in the agreement signed in 2011 between ADIF and RLA for “The operational integration of the Logistic Center of San Roque — La Línea (ADIF) with Sector 2 of the ZAL of the Bay of Algeciras”. In this context, Adif put into service on 27 March 2020 the variant of the route of the Algeciras-Bobadilla High Performance Line as it passes through San Roque, and the routes of expedition and reception of trains, which allow the operational permeability between the San Roque Terminal and the intermodal area Logistics Area Bahía de Algeciras, located on the adjacent land. With this operation, what is intended is to carry out the urbanisation of 8.45 ha of this intermodal area, making the geotechnical improvement of the land so that it can withstand the high loads that are expected, building a concrete slab for the handling/storage of containers, and providing the facilities with the basic services and security necessary for its commissioning. The actions to be developed, together with those already carried out by Adif, will allow the commissioning in San Roque of modern modal exchange facilities, an access point for all the goods generated in the environment of the logistics node of the Strait to the two Rail Corridors of the Trans-European Network.
