The Melilla Health Area is managed by the Central State Administration through the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA) since 2002 and during the COVID-19 pandemic it has had to care for and protect the population of Melilla, both through acquisitions of medical and pharmaceutical equipment, as well as the reinforcement of health personnel. In this context, INGESA has acquired numerous fungible material, such as personal protective equipment, disinfection material and COVID-19 detection test, among others. In addition, it has undertaken material investments in equipment to deal with the pandemic and has hired health and socio-health personnel to adapt the staff to the need for care of COVID patients, both in the field of primary care and specialised care.
