Plastics are an important material in today’s economy and everyday life. At the same time, however, they can have serious negative effects on the environment and human health. Action to tackle plastic pollution accelerates the transition to a circular and resource-efficient plastic economy. The adoption of the Plastics Strategy is part of the Circular Economy Action Plan and is a step towards making recycling profitable for businesses. Specific rules and targets apply to certain areas, including single-use plastics, plastic packaging, microplastics and soon biodegradable and compostable bio-based plastics. The Ordinance on reducing the impact of certain plastic products on the environment of 2.11.2021 transposes the requirements of the Single-Use Plastics Directive into national legislation. After gaining one year’s experience in applying the requirements that enter into force with its publication and the preparation of the business for the gradual introduction of all restrictions, it is necessary to assess the effect of the application of the Ordinance. The project approach includes identifying a wide range of stakeholders, preparing and conducting a survey, summarising and analysing the data, communicating and discussing the results with all stakeholders, exploring the experience of the EU and preparing proposals for better governance, presenting the results of the administration. Expected results — preparation of proposals for improving the texts of the Ordinance, evaluation of the effectiveness of implementation and proposals for its better implementation.
