Support for outpatient medical care structures and transfusion haematology centres for crisis management

The project proposal addresses the need to build and maintain capacity in the system of outpatient medical care (IMP) for crisis response and coping in conditions of epidemic and pandemic situation. It is envisaged to provide modern equipment for medical institutions for IMP in order to reduce the pressure on hospital hospitals at epidemic peaks of infection and to protect the life and health of citizens from epidemic spread of communicable diseases. The activities are aimed at providing support to diagnostic and advisory centres and medical centers so that patients with mild to medium-severe symptoms of coronavirus infection, post-type syndrome and other infectious diseases receive affordable and quality health care throughout the country, in compliance with the best European practices and standards. The project will help introduce remote access to health information for patients and limit unnecessary physical contacts to reduce the risk of infection spread. With the implementation of the project activities, the capacity of the centers for transfusion haematology for the production of reconvalescent plasma from reconvalescent patients will be strengthened in order to ensure the application of this type of therapy in the hospital system in conditions of increasing needs. The objectives of the project will be achieved through the implementation of two main components: Component No. 1 — Modernisation of medical establishments by the IMP through the supply of medical equipment for diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients with infectious diseases; Component No 2 — Increasing the capacity of transfusion haematology centres for diagnosis and production of reconvalescent plasma. The implementation of the project will create conditions for easier access of Bulgarian citizens to more precise diagnostics, effective treatment and surveillance in infectious diseases and for improved preparedness of the IMP system to face future epidemic crises.
