THE PROJECT ‘SAFE RAIL — WIM/WILD FIBER OPTIC SYSTEM OF THE NEXT GENERATION FOR THE SAFETY OF RAIL TRANSPORT’, AIMS TO PROFOUNDLY INNOVATE A MONITORING AND DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM OF ROLLING STOCK IN TRANSIT DURING NORMAL RAILWAY OPERATION, ABLE TO CARRY OUT IN REAL TIME THE DYNAMIC WEIGHT OF TRAINS (WIM FUNCTIONS), IN ORDER TO CONTROL LONGITUDINAL AND/OR TRANSVERSE IMBALANCES, TO MEASURE THE WHEEL/RAIL IMPACT FORCE AND THE DETECTION OF DEFECTIVE WHEELS (WILD — WHEEL IMPACT LOAD DETECTION), AS WELL AS A SERIES OF OTHER MEASUREMENTS.
