The 9 current buildings of the residence “Les Chartreux” were built between 1963 and 1965. They now have 399 dwellings but two ten-storey towers will be demolished to undertake a complete urban reconfiguration of the neighborhood by rethinking the outdoor spaces, the facilities and shopping centers, the relations of this social housing district with its urban environment and by diversifying the types of housing by the construction of small collectives or individual groups. In this urban project representing an overall investment of around EUR 24 million, the thermal rehabilitation of the 7 preserved buildings (319 dwellings) will represent more than 40 %. This thermal rehabilitation is essential to improve the comfort, energy performance and control of housing loads while participating in the urban requalification of the neighborhood through the aesthetic and environmental improvement of the residence. An effort will also be made on housing accessibility where technically feasible.
