MMaSyF 2019 – ECOMAT

ECOMAT is a project that aims to develop eco-design in the broad sense even if the proposed applications are rather civil engineering applications. These developments can clearly find applications to industrial engineering with robots or mechanical structures eco-designed and developed using plant-based materials. The Pascal Institute, and more particularly the M3G axis (Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering), are the main players in this project because of the presence, on the university sites of Clermont and Montluçon, of a strong scientific competence in the fields of multi-scale behaviour of materials and structures, machine dynamics, physico-chemical and mechanical analysis of active or biobased materials and probabilistic methods for the study of the reliability of the performance of systems. The use of biosourced materials has a significant number of advantages (materials available, ecological, respectful of the environment, pleasant to live...), but locks today hinder their massive use for construction. Knowledge of their behaviour in mechanical, thermal and hydraulic environments is a major challenge and requires experimentation and modeling at different scales: C is the main objective of the proposed research project.
