AIM: Artificial Intelligence for Clermont

The AIM project: Articifial Intelligence for Clermont federates and seeks to support the various developments and innovation carried out in the research laboratories of Clermont Auvergne University. In three years, at least 10 theses on AI and overall machine learning have become an increasingly important part of research programs. Key investments were made in IT capabilities specifically dedicated to AI within the Mesocentre (cluster GPU) thanks to CPER funding and UCA’s own resources. The objective of the project is to strengthen current AI research projects spread across many areas by creating a pool of resources and knowledge, available to all areas that will benefit from artificial intelligence for a coordinated strategy, both in research and training. To achieve this, the UCA is working to increase the human resources involved in AI research. The UCA is the winner of a call for programmes entitled IA doctoral contract, organised by the ANR, on PIA funds. This programme foresees 8 theses co-financed by the NRA, ERDF and UCA and will provide answers to three key questions on Artificial Intelligence: How does AI work? How to apply it to improve knowledge in other areas of research? How can we use it safely?
