CEREMA Certified Mobility Survey (EMC2)

The Urban Travel Plan validated in 2019, mentions the need to carry out a new Household Displacement Survey (EMD) in 2022. The last EMD was in 2012. CEREMA’s current recommendations are to carry out this type of study every 10 years, in order to have an adjusted knowledge of mobility and behavioural changes in the territory. The SMTC-AC is therefore beginning its reflection on the future survey which will allow to obtain a reliable and usable knowledge of the evolutions of mobility practices in the territory. A CEREMA certified travel household survey allows to have a photograph of the inhabitants’ travel practices on a previously defined perimeter. This project led by the SMTC-AC aims in the first place to know the mobility within its territorial jurisdiction in order to be able to produce adapted mobility offers that contribute to the reduction of the self-solicited use of passenger vehicles. The scope of the survey is nevertheless planned at the scale of the Metropolitan Pole (approximately 343 municipalities) which constitutes the relevant mobility pool. This material is a basic data to build the mobility offers of tomorrow (new services, new routes, etc.). The Mobility Observatory, led by the Urban Planning Agency, will provide a place for analysing and disseminating this data.
