The purpose of this operation is the purchase of a photoacoustic imaging system (IPA) adapted to preclinical and clinical studies. The project is part of the DPS of the Regional Innovation Strategy entitled “Biotechnologies and services applied to health and cosmetics”, the theme “Cerveau, Imaging, Psychiatry”. This operation is carried out by the Inserm Unit UMR1253 Imagery and Brain. Their activities focus on the pre-clinical and clinical development and validation of imaging technologies (PET, Ultrasound and MRI). Optical imaging plays a major role in the fields of preclinical and clinical imaging due to recent developments in photonics. Nevertheless, one of the fundamental limitations of optical imaging is related to the diffusion of light in tissues, which limits spatial resolution for deep area imaging. Recently, API has emerged as a promising modality as it frees itself from this limitation. API is an imaging modality that offers great potential for biomedical research.
