The project consists of creating the RECIA GIP network, a computer network based on optical fibers in the Centre-Val de Loire region, aimed at meeting the interconnection needs of approximately 130 sites of higher education and research institutions and public high schools in the Centre-Val de Loire region. It is a 100 gigabit primary network, carrying local networks to 10 gigabits. Connected to the Regional Data Centre hosted at the BRGM, it will allow institutions to centralise their data securely within the data centre, and to access RENATER (the national network operator for education and research – interconnected with its European and international counterparts to form a global academic network). The co-financed investment concerns the construction of the network’s basic architecture (called “BackBone”) and the construction of metropolitan and departmental loops. With the following three objectives in particular: High quality of service, control of IT network spending, a guarantee of economic sustainability and financial strength.
