3BR

The 3BR Biomolecules and Biomaterials project for the Regional Bioeconomy towards zero-waste recovery focuses on 3 major plant resources in the Grand-Est region (hemp, hops, oilseeds) in order to allow maximum recovery in a circular economy requirement. This research project combining fundamental and application aspects covers the entire value chain: production, fractionation, purification of biomolecules, development of biomaterials, energy recovery, soil amendment. The models that will be developed will make it possible to define a “reference” approach for a bioeconomic system at national and international level which can then be used for other sectors. In each recovery system, common or specific scientific locks are to be lifted. Thus new methods of resource selection, innovative methods of fractionation (e.g. steam explosion), new methods of functionalisation for materials (click chemistry), new purifications of biomolecules of interest, new recovery processes will be obtained. The 3BR consortium brings together the vast majority of actors in the regional bioeconomy in agri-food and biorefinery, associated with industrialists, so as not to lose sight of the objectives and the socio-economic impact that we want to give to the project.
