In its project, the Chair of Biotechnology set as its objectives the consolidation of its expertise in the fields of biosourced materials, bioprocesses and separative techniques and the strengthening of the capacity to transfer CEBB innovation and scale change, through experimental study of biological phenomena and processes, coupled with numerical modelling. The aim of the project is to raise the Chair’s expertise internationally and to embark the CEBB on a new exploratory path, proposing an innovative approach in the field of biotechnology, that of the digital twin of a biorefinery plant. This project is at the heart of the bioeconomy and digital, two priorities of the Grand Est Region, and is based on the Chair’s modelling skills and in connection with the High Performance Computing resources of the Regional Computing Centre and its ROMEO supercomputer based in Reims. This approach, in conjunction with the development of a modular pilot plant covering the entire biomass chain with separative techniques, will increase the visibility of CEBB and the Pomacle-Bazancourt Industrial Territory by strengthening its local leadership in bioeconomy on a European scale.
