The Canal de la Somme, a departmental public river domain, has been a victim of the proliferation of the invasive alien species “myriophylle heterophyll” since 2014. In 2020, mechanical and mowing-removal work on fourteen beefs was undertaken in order to limit the development and proliferation of this plant and preserve the biodiversity of these sites. The beefs concerned are Abbeville, Long, Picquigny, La Breilloire, Montières, Ailly sur Somme, Amiens, Daours, Corbie, Méricourt, Cappy, Upper Friesland, Lower Friesland and Froissy.
