The very recent IPCC report, the Paris Agreements and the European Green Deal express the necessity and urgency of putting in place strong actions to limit global warming by meeting the needs of an expanding population. The transition from fossil energy to renewable energy is a priority supported by political dynamics in Occitania, France and Europe. From locally sourced renewable biomass, bioenergy is a strategic sector of activity that contributes to the dynamism of territories with significant development potential. Organised in 5 platforms, the BeGreen project combines two research units – TBI and RAPSODEE – and the TWB industrial demonstrator. With multi-disciplinary skills in Chemistry, Living Sciences and Process Engineering, this project aims to acquire equipment targeting locks limiting the development of new sectors from the pre-treatment of biomass to the production of products. As an attractive force for public and private partners, these partners are able to contribute to the creation of new sectors or optimise existing pathways from an environmental and economic point of view, in a holistic approach of the bioeconomy for the energy transition. Some of the equipment complements promising prospects for application to human health and nutrition.
