creation of the RAPAS gateway

As part of the development of the Grand Parc Garonne, aiming to transform the Île du Ramier into a vast green lung accessible to all, Toulouse Métropole is considering the creation of footbridges dedicated to pedestrians and cycles, to pursue its ambition to transform the Île du Ramier into a vast urban park, connected to riparian neighbourhoods and the metropolitan cycling network. The Rapas bridge project aims to connect the heart of the park (area of the former Exhibition Centre) to the Fer-à-Cheval district, on the left bank of Garonne, as well as the Avenue de Muret and the cycling network on the dike, and thus contributes to the strengthening of soft mobility (crossing the lower arm of the Garonne, between the Saint Michel bridge in the North and the bridge of the Croix de Pierre in the South connecting Avenue de Muret (axis of the Gastou Passage), to the Ile du Ramier). The architectural and landscape design of the Rapas bridge makes it possible to highlight the Île du Ramier, the future green lung of the Metropolis, which is part of a contemporary evolution of Toulouse’s urban landscape. The Rapas Gateway is a marker of Toulouse Métropole’s ecological transition policy. It integrates with the natural landscape of the river banks and reflects the reconciliation between the city and its natural environment.
