The INRAE conducts research on tropical island and continental agro-environmental issues. In addition to the research work, the centre works on the production of biotechnical and organisational innovations to support small agroecological and bioeconomic farms. Small-scale agriculture becomes, in this context, a structuring concept for the ecological and technological modernisation of Caribbean agriculture. The project aims at the creation of a technical platform for the manufacture of livestock feed, as a “tool for pooling ongoing and/or future projects” and should allow the integration and coherence of existing schemes/projects (e.g. pilot farms in agroecology and bioeconomy) with each other. In addition to its food production activity, the plateau will also have as its mission research and innovation and training. The technical platform will consist of mobile infrastructures (e.g. granulation unit, centrifuge, slaughterhouse) and fixed (insect flour production unit, dehydrator, solar drying greenhouse). A consortium will be set up and the technical platform will operate in a collaborative mode involving a wide variety of actors. This co-construction makes it possible to meet the diversity of expectations. In other words, the platform is called to fit into a multi-stakeholder territorial innovation platform.
