Centre for Animation and Interpretation of the Amerindian Culture of Vivé in Lorrain – Tranche 3/Phase 1

Northern Martinique is unanimously recognised as a territory that concentrates a diverse set of resources. Green lung of the island, agricultural attic, water tower of the department, the North is also the memory of the historical and architectural heritage of Martinique. However, the northern tourism economy seems under-exploited given the potential and notoriety of certain sites such as Montagne Pelée and Saint-Pierre. The territory is generally underdeveloped and unbalanced in comparison with the rest of the island and within these different territorial components (North Caribbean, North Atlantic and Central Atlantic). The assets of this territory are thus to be valued in the context of a local development strategy. This strategy is based in particular on structuring projects that would ultimately help to renew the attractiveness factors of the North. Culture and heritage are relevant levers for economic, social and territorial development. There are real opportunities for product diversification with green tourism and cultural tourism. As such, the Vivé project can be a structuring pole combining culture and nature. The prehistoric site of Vivé, in the territory of the municipality of Lorrain, has been registered in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments, since 1 February 1994, and at the same time constitutes one of
