Creation of a new generation sequencing platform at the CHU in Martinique

This project consists of setting up a Next Generation Sequencing Platform (NGS) at the CHU de Martinique (CHUM) dedicated to two areas of clinical and therapeutic research activity: virology (Plateform of “virological watch”) and cancer (Plateform of “molecular cancer genetics”). To date, there is no such platform, for clinical or epidemiological purposes, in the Caribbean. As part of the preparation of programming 2014-2020 this structuring project for the monitoring and research on emerging diseases and/or cancer has been proposed by the hospital-university teams of the CHU of Martinique (CHUM) and the UFR of Medicine of the Antilles (Dean: PR. Raymond Césaire). It brings together professors-researchers and clinicians from different disciplines, combining basic and clinical research. It offers a real opportunity to increase the attractiveness and visibility of biomedical research in Martinique. It is important that Martinique medicine can face two major challenges: the fight against cancer (Overseas Cancer Plan) and emerging infectious diseases. The late investigation of this file is explained by the difficulties in obtaining the missing documents from the file.
