The action “Development and valorisation of the Montgérald forest” is included in the Fort-de-France Bay Agreement 2020-2025. The only forest of Martinique, the Montgérald forest, with an area of 18.42 ha listed as a natural area of ecological, fauna and floristic interest (ZNIEFF) and classified wooded area (EBC) is a veritable green lung landlocked in the urban landscape of Fort-de-France. The city of Fort-de-France, owner of the forest estate since December 2015, wishes to develop the forest site in order to offer the population a space for relaxation and discovery of nature by linking the in situ conservation of the flora and fauna richness of this wooded space while allowing them to enjoy the many benefits of the forest.
