In June 2012, the MEL adopted the SEDIMATERIAUX approach, which aims, at the national level, to the emergence of sectors for the management and recovery of dredging sediments with a view to sustainable development, protection of the environment and populations. In this context, a tripartite agreement has been signed between the MEL (manager of the Plan Bleu), Voies Navigables de France (current manager of the decentralizable arms) and the École des Mines de Douai (partner of research and formulation of re-use solutions). The SEDIMATERIAUX studies focused on the recovery of non-inert and non-hazardous sediments for road materials, structuring concretes and landscape eco-models. Following satisfactory results, the MEL wished to commit itself to the realisation of sites testing the recovery of sediments of healing for the following applications: — Sewerage trench embankments in self-compacting grout; — Reservoir structure in hollow concrete modules of the hydrocyl type; — Grave roadway structure. While relying on a circular economy logic, these steps will make it possible to recover materials currently considered waste and will meet the objectives defined by the energy transition law which aims to recover 70 % of recycled materials on metropolitan sites.
