Construction of an agricultural methanisation unit with biomethane injection on the GRDF network in the municipality of Wormhout

The project is driven by a structure exclusively dedicated to agricultural methanisation, the Méthaflandres SARL. This company was created by two Wormhout farmers (EARL Foort pig farming and SCEA Provo and Fils, poultry farming and hatchery). This project is carried out in partnership with the Community of Communes of Upper Flanders (CCHF). The project is part of a territorial approach by hosting waste from different local producers (agricultural effluents, agricultural plant materials, industrial co-products green waste from local authorities,...) within a maximum radius of a few tens of kilometers. The operation meets the eligibility criteria of the projects described in the Implementation Document of Axis 3 Investment Priority OT 4a. The greenhouse gas balance shows an overall saving of 3505 tonnes CO2 equivalent. The production of injected biomethane will be approximately 14 299 MWh PCS/year. To realise this methanisation unit, SARL Méthaflandres plans to invest EUR 5 357 195,23 in overall investment costs. The proposed support for this project is part of the notification exemption scheme SA 59108 for environmental protection aid, with eligible expenditure of EUR 4 885 173,39 from which the reference solution of EUR 724000 is subtracted, i.e. EUR 4 161 173,39. An accompanying proposal of EUR 750000 from ERDF represents an aid rate of 18.02 %.
