Requalification of the heart of the city: sector Pasteur and Port-Villiers

The City of Chalon sur Saône has launched a program to requalification its public spaces. A global urban project, ensuring the landscape and urban integration of public spaces, has been developed to allow the realisation of complementary developments aimed at strengthening links with the Saône, the backbone of the territory and vector of economic and tourist development. These developments will also contribute to the landscape, heritage and cultural valorisation of the site, as well as the revitalisation of local trade. The project presented under the ERDF urban axis is to requalify the heart of the city in order to improve the urban landscape, promote soft mobility and increase the attractiveness of the city centre. The project consists of two spaces: — the Pasteur sector: The aim is to redevelop the entire area, the gateway to the heart of the city, in order to promote soft mobility and enhance the commercial attractiveness of the city centre. Thus, the entire area concerned will be converted into a meeting area. Speed will be limited and priority will be given to pedestrians, with expanded sidewalks. —the Place du Port Villiers: The redevelopment of the square results in the creation of an expanded esplanade on the docks and the cohabitation of the different uses (soft modes in particular). To facilitate and facilitate access to the Saône, a pontoon will also be created in advance on the river.
