The achievement of the JOP Paris 2024 led to the need for a new reflection on the research, training and support of athletes in their quest for very high performance, including a central place of the coach as head of the performance project, research closest to athletes, and the implementation of scientific, methodological and technological support (SMT) to athletes. To respond to these challenges, the University of Lorraine, the Grand Est Region, the CREPS of Nancy and CDOS 54 propose the creation of the Centre d’ Accompagnement, de Recherche et d’ Expertise (CARE Grand Est) to enable athletes and coaches to be accompanied in their search for performance and injury risk prevention. In this perspective, CARE Grand Est will defend a systemic and multidisciplinary approach to performance, revealing in the state of the field’s constraints, and will implement translational research activities and other SMT support. Thus, CARE will develop a real support mission in the direction of sports performance and injury prevention based on scientific expertise, field expertise, knowledge exchange and sharing of experience. Its missions will be based on a methodology of proximity, which will allow the agility necessary for success on the ground and a monitoring of the implementation of the research results.
