During 2017, the Community of Agglomeration acquired the competence “access to health and care” with the objective of meshing the territory into health homes that will promote the maintenance of practitioners installed in the territory and the establishment of new doctors. After a first phase of need analysis, several projects emerged. The most advanced project is the one located in the municipality of Ligny en Barrois whose design was carried out at the end of 2018 – early 2019. The aim is to accommodate four doctors, two dentists, massage therapists and speech therapists. These different professionals will join an SISA, an interprofessional care company that will rent the building to the community. The establishment of a multi-professional health home in Ligny-en-Barrois and more particularly in the Cité de l’Ornain district, which is placed as an “active watch” will allow residents to benefit from a structured and quality health offer which will reduce inequalities in access to health services. In a context of medical desertification in rural areas, the structuring of the supply will facilitate and coordinate the practice of doctors currently present in the territory and can also facilitate the installation of future doctors.
