Created on 1 January 2020 by Law n°2019-773 of 24 July 2019, the French Biodiversity Office is under the supervision of the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Pierre Dubreuil is its general manager. The OFB brings together the agents of the French Agency for Biodiversity (AFB) and the National Office for Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS). To unite these two establishments in the fight for the protection of nature, allows to gather expertise, on aquatic, terrestrial and marine environments and to work together against the threats to biodiversity in France. Bringing together these two entities, whose agents are located throughout France and overseas, also means ensuring a solid anchor in the territories to act at the local level. Initially led by AFB, the NAMEL project continues to be led by the same teams, within a different organisation. The NAMEL project led by the French Biodiversity Agency concerns the implementation of actions to manage marine Natura 2000 sites in Pays de la Loire, including actions to improve knowledge, the drafting of objectives documents and their animation. It aims to improve knowledge of the habitats in order to enable coherent and effective management in line with the objectives of preserving habitats and species of Community interest.
