The Community of Agglomeration Saumur Val de Loire is committed to the process of inventorying wetlands in order to improve the knowledge of its natural heritage. Wetlands are valuable because they allow the storage of water during flooding, the return of water during periods of low water, the filtration of water and they are the life support of many species. In 2016, the former Community of municipalities of Loire-Longué carried out a study on the delimitation and inventory of wetlands in the inter-communal territory in order to integrate these elements into urban planning and planning documents, such as the territorial coherence scheme (SCOT), the local urban planning plan (PLUI) or the planning and management plan (SAGE). Since 1 January 2017, the Saumur Val de Loire agglomeration community has been responsible for continuing the successful completion of this inventory on the territory of Longuéen. This project aims to carry out inventories of wetlands, components of the blue frame, in order to have a better knowledge of the natural heritage of the territory. This will make it possible to better protect it by integrating these inventories into urban planning documents. In addition, the completion of these inventories will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the Authion Planning and Water Management Scheme (SAGE), approved on 27 December 2017 and those of the SAGE Thouet under development.
