AEROPRINT: develop a metal additive manufacturing sector in AuRA Region and set up a pre-industrial multi-material demonstrator cell for avionnable aeronautical parts

Metal additive manufacturing has attracted a growing industrial interest over the past decade due to the many advantages it can provide for a large number of sectors: reduction of manufacturing and marketing times, creation of complex shapes not feasible by conventional technologies, reduction of waste, reduction of costs in certain areas of use, optimisation of the mass of parts, etc. But technological locks remain and limit the long-term integration of these technologies into the industrial environment for the manufacture of series parts, particularly in the aeronautical field where the requirements for quality, reproducibility and competitiveness of the products produced must be demonstrated and not derived from one launch in production to another (class 2 and 3 components in embedded systems). Dassault AVIATION and its 10 partners are now engaged in the collaborative “R D manufacturing” project AEROPRINT, which will synergise the complementarity of high-level industrial, technological and scientific skills (process, completion, digital chain, HSE, qualification) and knowledge of target markets, to bring metal additive manufacturing to an industrial scale and create a sustainable regional sector positioning the Region on the European and global 3D metal printing industry.
