The objectives of CIRI are to “understand infectious diseases, to better control them”. With 15 million deaths per year worldwide, known pathogen infectious diseases pose a major threat to human society. More than ever, a multidisciplinary approach is needed with a common goal: prediction, eradication or at least control of infectious diseases. CIRI with its 25 research teams in immunology, virology and bacteriology is a center to develop this type of research. The project “installation of the CIRI” concerns the development of premises allowing the installation of the 9 research teams in premises equipped with new equipment and equipment that will allow the development of state-of-the-art research on infectious diseases. Bringing together the teams will also facilitate the use of technology platforms located in Gerland. A dedicated laboratory space will also be reserved for hosting new international teams that will enrich the infectiology research ecosystem. Finally, this new configuration should stimulate collaborations between the centre’s teams and with nearby clinical and industrial partners. The grouping of many teams at the Gerland site will be a major asset to increase CIRI’s national and international reach.
