Since the outbreak of the virus (COVID-19) in the Guyanese territory and especially since the acceleration of epidemic dynamics in May 2020, the hospital center of Cayenne (CHC), a public health institution, has organised to take care of patients in the best conditions. The institution has thus implemented a response plan graduated in 5 phases of upscaling of COVID-specific hospitalisation capacities to take care of patients in the territory. This increase in charge is based on an exceptional mobilisation of human and material resources that massively impacts the hospital’s expenditure. Indeed, in order to be able to screen, take care of patients while preserving their health and safety, as well as that of staff, the Cayenne hospital must: — To equip itself with medical products, laboratory and resuscitation equipment – Ensure the rapid delivery of goods and personnel – Reorganise and increase the capacity (number of beds available) of certain services through work and recruit staff during the pandemic, to support the activity related to the increase in COVID-19 cases
